EARLY HEAD START

The Community Action Commission (CAC) of Belmont County has been awarded a grant to provide Early Head Start Services for children birth to 3 years, in addition to the Head Start Preschool services we have been providing for more than 50 years! CAC provides free, high-quality, home-based education to infants, toddlers, and their parents. The Early Head Start Home-Based Program provides information, support, and encouragement to parents and caregivers through home visits to help children develop optimally during the crucial, early years of life. Children develop fastest in their earliest years, and the skills and abilities they develop in those years help lay the foundation for their future success.

The home visiting program consists of one 90-minute home visit per week by a qualified EHS Teacher. Teachers use the Creative Curriculum- Infant, Toddlers, and Twos. This Curriculum is research-based and aligned with state early learning guidelines and the Head Start Early Learning Outcomes Framework.

Home-based services also include referrals, developmental screenings, nutrition assessments, health screenings, parent engagement activities, and much more to highlight the importance of parents as a child’s first educator.

Additionally, children enrolled in Early Head Start, can transition into our Head Start Preschool Program once they turn 3 years old.
