Home Energy Assistance Program

The Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) is a federally funded program that provides eligible Ohioans assistance with their home energy bills.

This one-time benefit is applied directly to the customer’s utility bill or bulk fuel bill. Ohioans with a household income at or below 175 percent of the federal poverty guidelines are eligible for the program.

Required Documentation

  1. Completed Appliation
  2. Copies of most recent Energy bill
  3. A list of all household members and proof of income for the lat 30 days.
  4. Proof of U.S. citizenship or legal residency for all household members; (Social Security cards and Birth Certificates)
  5. Proof of disability, if applicable
  6. Current electric and gas bills
  7. Proof of SNAP, Tanf, HUD, Utility Check, Child Support
  8. Rental Agreement/Landlord Info include name, address, and telephone number
  9. Tax transcript if you have been unemployed for more than 12 months
